Oxford Community Foundation Looking for Board Members

My name is Keith Stevens and as the chair of the board, it is my pleasure to let you know that Oxford Community Foundation (OCF) is seeking individuals to join our board of directors. Being an active member on the board of directors to help shape and guide the foundation is an amazing feeling. Knowing that you are helping your community, not only today but also creating sustainable support into the future is a great feeling.
The deadline to express your interest is Friday, March 15, 2024. Two board positions will be available commencing late April 2024.

Who we are
At OCF, we help individuals, families and organizations leave personalized, lasting legacies in Oxford County, to make it a better place. We provide the opportunity to support the entire community, or to target specific areas of interest which include arts and culture, heritage, the environment, education, health and wellness, sports and recreation and social services.  We invest and grant funds wisely and have granted $2 million to 115 charitable organizations serving Oxford County.  OCF is part of a network of 210 community foundations across Canada and is the only community foundation serving all of Oxford County.

Who we’re looking for
We are looking for caring community-minded volunteers looking to make a positive impact in the communities throughout Oxford County. 

If you live in Oxford County and are: 

  • Motivated by OCF’s purpose of making Oxford a better place for all.
  • A strategic leader who is committed to building strong, equitable and inclusive communities.
  • An emergent or experienced leader dedicated to supporting communities. 
  • Knowledgeable about societal and community issues across Oxford County.

Skills, perspectives and expertise
OFC strives to represent the communities in Oxford County through its Board and welcomes the unique contributions people can bring in terms of their geographic location, education, culture, ethnicity, race, gender identity and expression, age, religion, disability, sexual orientation and beliefs. 

OCF is seeking nominees with a broad range of skills and perspectives, community leadership, and professional expertise, and particularly interested to hear from candidates with knowledge and experience in the following areas:

  • Finance and Accounting
  • Major gift fundraising
  • Legal with knowledge of non-profit and charity law
  • Farm or rural life

Responsibilities

  • Contribute skills and expertise to advance OFC’s purpose.
  • Bring a strategic perspective to the organization.
  • Participate in nine board meetings and two OCF events per year.
  • Participate in at least one OFC committee aligned with interests and expertise.
  • Act as ambassadors for OFC.
  • Dedicate approximately 5-10 hours per month to OCF activities.
  • Commit to a three-year term commencing late April 2024. Directors may hold up to two consecutive terms.
